Defining MTPE
According to the Standard on Post-editing of Machine Translation Output ISO 18587:2017, Post-Editing is the correction and editing of machine translation (MT) output. Furthermore, Full Post-editing is the process of postediting that obtains a product comparable to a product obtained by human translation and localization.

Different levels of MTPE
Light Post-Editing (LPE)
LPE: “Every Friday at 11, we will have our meeting with the marketing and localization teams.”
If the above sentence sounds like it’s been taken straight from your source text, then you might only need Light Post-Editing. LPE is perfect for texts that circulate within your own organization. Essentially, texts that aren’t open to emotional
interpretation. In the language of localization specialists, Light-Post Editing is the quality level achieved when a human post-editor makes the minimum corrections to the translation output produced by the machine translation engine to make the text understandable.
Full Post-Editing (FPE)
FPE: “Our brand new “SyntaxMania” grammar app will be available for digital download on both iOS and Android next week! Users in the MENA region can benefit from a custom UX/UI theme if they download it today!”

The MTPE Workflow: Let’s guide you through the process!
Let’s imagine that you are a Forex company and have a bulk of financial reports, repetitive content with technical language and short sentences. This is a good use case to start. PHASE 1
In the first phase, your source text goes through pre-editing, where our language experts prepare it for machine processing.
PHASE 2
Translation Memory makes its appearance in the second phase. The database of stored texts automatically translates any identical segments it.has come across before.
PHASE 3
The untranslated segments go through Machine Translation. The output is a 100% translated hybrid text. However, there are machine errors that need to be adjusted by our team.
PHASE 4
We thank the machine for its services, but this is the phase our language experts come in. They perform the post-editing phase, turning the MT’s hybrid text into a 100% translated target text, with an added human touch.
PHASE 5
The final phase, error annotation, this is how we can evaluate the machine translation engine. And this is how it gets improved! And for sure, no workflow ends without a QA. Our QA team performs the final review, correcting any language issues that might have slipped by undetected. Once this phase is complete, your text is ready to go!
